Dr O’Donnell is our chief medical officer. As such he is part of the team that is responsible for strategy, direction, and execution of the Company’s clinical development plans. In addition, he works with senior management to evaluate the scientific, and clinical viability of potential products, assessing their commercial potential to address unmet medical indications taking into account approved drugs as well as drugs under development by competitors. Dr. O’Donnell has thirty years of experience in pharmaceutical development.
He received his BA from Johns Hopkins University’s accelerated program and his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as well as his specialty and fellowship training. He is an inventor or co-inventor on over 40 US patents.

Peter J. McDonnell, M.D., a distinguished ophthalmologist and renowned expert in corneal disease and surgery, currently holds the esteemed positions of Director and William Holland Wilmer Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, housed within the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Born with a passion for advancing eye care, Dr. McDonnell embarked on his academic journey by earning his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Dartmouth College. His commitment to the field led him to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1982. Following his medical education, Dr. McDonnell pursued a residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Institute, laying the foundation for his specialization in cornea and external diseases.
Dr. McDonnell’s pursuit of excellence continued with a fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute of the University of Southern California, solidifying his expertise in corneal transplantation, laser refractive surgery, and the treatment of dry eye. His dedication brought him back to the Wilmer Institute, where he initially served as Assistant Chief of Service before transitioning to the University of Southern California’s full-time faculty. There, he climbed the academic ranks, achieving the distinguished title of professor in 1994. In 1999, Dr. McDonnell assumed the role of Irving H. Dr. Michael Roizen has served as an advisor to the Company since November 30, 2023. Since 2007, Dr. Roizen has served as the Chief Wellness Officer of the Cleveland Clinic, including as the Chief Wellness Officer Emeritus since February 2019 and the Wellness Institute Chair since June 2007. He is also a professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
